Experience what it is like to be zapped "with a curse of science verse"! Join one of Mr. Newton's science students on a journey through an interesting selection of scientific topics! Author Jon Scieszka does an excellent job of combining the worlds of poetry and science in Science Verse. The book consists of just over 20 science-inspired poems, which range from poems about the water cycle to poems about catching viruses, all the way to poems about the chemical makeup of a candle. The poetry found in Science Verse is fun, and the illustrator Lane Smith does an amazing job of matching the poems with exciting artwork throughout the entire book.
This book would be an amazing reference when teaching about any of the scientific concepts discussed in one of the poems. Because of the poetic format of the scientific information, enjoyable literature like this may be very helpful in remembering scientific concepts such as the scientific method or the water cycle.
