In this piece of literature, James Marshall tells the familiar story of Goldilocks and the Three bears. Staying true to the familiar plot of this tale, Marshall includes three bears- a father, mother, and baby bear, and Goldilocks- a young girl who travels into the woods, and finds herself in their house.
The story is enhanced by Marshall's illustrations, which actually add a little bit of humor to the story.
A good exercise to use in the classroom in conjunction this book would be to have the students act out the story after reading it. That would give them the chance to have fun while enhancing their verbal communication and storytelling skills.
