Rockin' Reptiles is the fun story of Allie Gator, her best friend Amy, and the new alligator in town: Gracie. When Gracie moves into Allie's building, it doesn't take long for Allie and Amy to introduce themselves. Before the day is out, the three are friends, and are already making plans to play together later!
On their way to the candy store, Allie and Amy notice a sign advertising a concert for their favorite band: Rockin' Reptiles! Unfortunately, before they could finish one of the band's songs, an alligator walked past them, posted a "sold out" sticker over the poster, and left, leaving Allie and Amy with no way of buying tickets.
Gracie, who had an extra ticket to the concert, accidentally offered the same ticket to Amy and Allie, which created a sticky situation: both friends were invited, and only one friend could go. Gracie was left with a tough decision-- who should go? Gracie couldn't decide, and the decision was so hard to make, that Allie and Amy got in a huge argument! After going to a fortune teller and renting boats, the three gators finally came up with a plan to share the ticket-- Allie would go into the first half of the concert, and Amy would go into the second. Since their plan would work perfectly, they were surprised when their fortune teller-- Madame Lulu-- called to give them an extra ticket!
This would be a perfect precursor to a lesson about conflict resolution or friendship. Students may enjoy coming up with lyrics to a song from the Rockin' Alligator band, which would also be a neat way to incorporate poetry.
